Collective Tarot Forecast: July 2023

July brings themes of releasing addictive thoughts and behaviours, leaning into trust, recognizing our worth, and considering where we can release our grasp just a little to allow ourselves more space. None of this promises to be easy, but it will be rewarding.

Releasing addictive thoughts and behaviours

If you are in a pattern of negative thoughts or actions that you know are destructive in the long term but don't have the energy to stop—I get it. From negative self-talk to cookie dough to that extra glass of wine, we all have guilty pleasures that are familiar comforts when our defences are down. When I'm having an emotionally exhausting day, I often make a batch of cookie dough and eat it with a spoon for dinner. It is everything I need and want at that moment, but within an hour, I am full of regret and stomachache. This month, consider what your 'cookie dough' is. Is it making comparisons to others (especially as we scroll through social media)? Maybe it's negative self-talk when you're too tired to respond to that internal voice. Whatever it is, simply becoming aware of it is all you need to do right now. Awareness is enough to make it your decision rather than an unconscious one. Now, when I reach for the chocolate chips, the resulting stomachache is my choice.

Lean into trust

Is there an area of your life where you are grasping at control? These struggles are extremely depleting since we have little control over most things. This month, try leaning into trust. Have faith that the universe has your back, even if you must practice suspending disbelief to get there. A friend recently shared this quote:

Whenever something seemingly negative occurs in the short term, I foster the belief that it is actually a positive event that requires time to unfold, and so I continue to pursue my path with faith.

Recognize your worth

Finally, take inventory of yourself this month. Usually, we spend all our time looking ahead to what we must do next without pausing to congratulate ourselves for what we just did or how far we've come. Imagine you worked hard to plant your garden this year (you may not have to imagine!) You planted all the seeds indoors, rotated them through grow lights and pots, planted them outside, fertilized them, and watered them. Now you have an incredible bounty to harvest. Imagine if you never stepped back to appreciate your beautiful, fertile, abundant garden. Imagine if you didn't take a moment to be filled with joy by what you have co-created with mother earth. This is often how we live our lives. As we pick our ripe fruit and veggies, our minds are already on the tasks we must do next year to start over again. Consider making a list of your brag-able moments, your recent accomplishments (big and small); times that you failed but at least tried; the things that have made you feel empowered; and the steps towards your bigger goals. Read your list often this month, and let the feeling of pride sink in.

These photos were taken in our garden last summer.

Have a beautiful month full of sunshine and self inquiry!
